Our Story
Hi, I’m Monica — the hands and heart behind every candle and wax melt in this shop. I wanted to share how crafting candles and wax melts helps me cope with agoraphobia and anxiety.
If you know someone who lives with agoraphobia or anxiety, please try to be patient and understanding. What they’re going through may not always be visible, but it’s very real. A little compassion can make a big difference
"Our candles aren’t just scents — they’re whispers of hope."
Oasis Candles Inc. is more than a business — it’s a story of courage, healing, and finding light in the darkest moments. I'm the founder of Oasis Candles Inc. who lives with agoraphobia, a condition that can make stepping outside feel impossible. In those moments of isolation, candle-making became a safe place — a quiet ritual that turned fear into focus, and anxiety into something beautiful. Each candle was a way to breathe, to slow down, to feel a little more in control.
Living with agoraphobia and anxiety isn’t something I ever expected to define so much of my life — but it has. For years, I’ve struggled with overwhelming fear in everyday situations that most people don’t think twice about: leaving the house, walking into a store, being around crowds, even answering a phone call. Some days, just getting through the day feels like a mountain to climb. I’ve spent a long time trying to find healthy ways to cope, and one of the most unexpected — and beautiful — things that’s helped me is making candles and wax melts.
"Every pour tells a story of healing, strength, and finding light in the dark."
It started as a small hobby — something to keep my hands busy and my mind distracted during anxious moments. But over time, it became much more than that. When I’m crafting, I feel present. Focused. Safe. There’s something calming about the whole process: measuring the wax, choosing the scent, pouring the mixture, and waiting for it to set. It’s a rhythm that grounds me when everything else feels unstable. It gives me structure and purpose, even on days when I feel like I can’t face the outside world.
Scent has also become a powerful emotional tool for me. Certain smells — like lavender, vanilla, or eucalyptus — instantly calm my nervous system. Filling my space with those scents helps me create a little bubble of peace and comfort, especially when I’m feeling overwhelmed or disconnected. Lighting a candle I made with my own hands reminds me that I can create a sense of calm, even when my mind is anything but.
When you bring an Oasis candle into your home, you’re not just enjoying a beautiful scent. You’re holding a piece of a journey — one that proves it’s possible to find peace, purpose, and joy, even when the world feels too big.
Crafting has given me more than just a coping mechanism — it’s given me a piece of myself back. It reminds me that I’m more than my anxiety or my limitations. I’m a creator. I’m capable. I’ve even started sharing my creations with others, and that’s helped me feel connected to the world in a way that still feels safe and manageable.
I won’t pretend that making candles has “cured” my anxiety or agoraphobia — I still have hard days, and I’m still working through my mental health challenges. But this small act of creation has become a lifeline. It gives me something to look forward to, something to be proud of, and most importantly, a way to bring a little light into the darkness.
Today, every candle and wax melt from Oasis Candles Inc. carries that same spirit of resilience and hope. Hand-poured with 100% natural soy wax, clean-burning wicks, and fragrances sourced from Canadian suppliers, each product is crafted with intention — a reminder that healing can take many forms, and that even the smallest flame can light up the darkest room.
Thank you for supporting not just a small business, but someone who’s turning personal healing into something warm, beautiful, and meaningful. Whether you're lighting a candle to relax, reset, or recharge — know that it was made with love, mindfulness, and a lot of heart.
Sincerely Monica

Agoraphobia Awareness
Agoraphobia is a complex anxiety disorder characterized by an intense fear of being in situations where escape might be difficult or help unavailable in the event of a panic attack or other incapacitating symptoms. This condition can significantly impact an individual's daily life, leading to avoidance behaviours that can confine them to their homes or familiar environments.
